I may consider a political appointment – 2face Idibia
In recent times, 2face Idibia has been involved in a lot of peace advocacy projects urging the Nigerian youth to shun violence.
He’s also always said he’s never interested in becoming a politician.
But from his words in a recent chat with Thenetng, the 41-year-old singer may be having a change of heart.
According to him, ‘Whether we like it or not, politics affects all of us so for me I want to see it work, I want to see a Nigeria that’s more than Dubai. I want tourists to be able to come to Nigeria for vacation, that’s what I visualise and hope for.’
Speaking on, 2baba said, ‘Though I don’t think I’m cut out for politics except if it’s a political appointment that doesn’t involve me going to campaign for something and even at that, it has to be something I have knowledge about, I can’t just accept any appointment for the sake of it.’

Nollywood actress, Yewande Adekoya Abiodun, has made strong claims against popular movie marketer, Akeem Olatunji Balogun who owns Olasco films saying he is after her life.

I have been practising since 2002 and i am presently a bonafide member of Tampan. If anything bad happens to me, Nigerians, pls hold Akeem Olatunji Balogun responsible. He has marketed my movies for about six years now and i have nothing to show for it financially. I do not even have a car of my own.

This man is presently owing me the sum of 2million naira and he has refused to pay because he feels no one can challenge him. He has been owing me since 2014. He even went as far as influencing movie marketers and some movie producers to stop casting me for movie roles. Why? What exactly did i do to you? What exactly do you want from me? Mr Akeem Olatunji Balogun please leave me alone, i refuse to be enslaved by you, like you enslave some others. You don’t pay them and you also won’t let them do business with other people. Maybe it’s because i refused to date you even after all these years, that is why you are strongly determined to destroy me. “I Lost My Son Due To LUTH’s Carelessness'” – John Okafor ‘Mr Ibu’
Comic actor, John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu in a recent interview related how he lost his young son at LUTH and the role played by the staff of the hospital.
Read the excerpts below;
“The matter was actually between the Paediatric Department of the hospital and me. It was in 2011. My wife and our two-year-old son had been kidnapped. After I paid the ransom demanded and they were released by the kidnappers, I returned to Lagos from Enugu.
“Then on January 18, 2011, my son fell ill. He was diagnosed with inflammation of the liver. The hospital suggested that he should be scanned. At the same time, I was informed that I could take my son out of the hospital to get the scan done elsewhere. But the same people later declined, saying that everything had to be done in the hospital because he was too weak to be taken outside.
“After a while, I was told that there was no electricity in the hospital. When I asked if there was no standby generator, they said there was no fuel in it. I offered to pay for fuel only to be told that the man that operated the generator was not around. When I left the place and got back later, the man still had not returned. Then I was advised to write an application and to submit to the admin department.”
After writing the application, Okafor found that there was nobody to receive and treat it. While he was waiting, he was told that his son’s condition required blood transfusion. The actor did everything possible to ensure that the ailing boy was given treatment at the hospital, but his efforts were in vain. Finally, the little boy gave up the ghost.
“That was how my son died. Later, one of the doctors came to me and, without even sympathising with me, asked if I could release my boy’s corpse to him so that they could cut it open and use it to teach other medical students. In that moment, I felt like committing murder for the first time in my life.
“When I told my lawyer what happened at the hospital, he was shocked. He said it was actionable. I told him that I was ready to take the hospital management to court and sue it for $100 million in damages because my son’s death was caused by the carelessness of the professionals whose duty was to save his life. But my lawyer advised me to let go”.

CCB begin probe of Amaechi, Ngige, Fashola, others’ assets
The Code of Conduct Bureau has begun massive verification of assets declared by top serving and former public officers at the federal, state and local government levels.
A statement by the Chairman of the CCB, Mr. Sam Saba, stated that the exercise involved physical appearance of the concerned public officers before the bureau for conference and field verifications of their declared assets.
Conference verification requires public officers to present documents relating to their declared assets to designated officials of the bureau.
And field verification involves public officers taking CCB officials to locations of their declared landed, fixed and other assets that could not be conveniently moved to the bureau’s office.
He stated that by virtue of Paragraph 11 of Part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution (as amended), “every public officer is required to submit to the CCB a written declaration of properties, assets and liabilities and those of his/her spouse (if not a public officer) and his unmarried children under the age of 18 years.”
According to The Punch, he said any statement in the declaration, found to be false by authorities or persons authorised to verify it, “shall be deemed to be a breach of the code”.
He stated, “To this end, the Bureau has commenced its 2016 4th Quarter Cycle of Conference and Field Verification of Assets of top public officers. Accordingly, letters of invitation have been dispatched to ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, service chiefs and other top public officers.
“All invited public officers are to note that failure to honour the invitation by the CCB in this regard is a breach of the provisions of the constitution and could lead to prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
“Public officers not yet invited are to await their letters of invitation.”
He listed 76 public officers that had been invited by the bureau with a threat of the possibility of prosecution if they fail to honour the invitation.
Among the 76 invitees are 30 ministers whom, according to CCB, have yet to submit themselves to the exercise.
According to the bureau, ministers who have yet to submit themselves for the verification are:
Others include Senator Aisha Alhassan (Women Affairs and Social Development); Solomon Dalung (Youths & Sports Development); Osagie Ehanire (Health (State)); Usani Usani (Niger Delta Affairs); Prof. Anthony Anwukah (Education (State)); Lai Mohammed (Information and Culture), and Gen. Ali Mansur (retd.) (Defence).
The list also includes Senator Udo Udoma (Budget and National Planning); Ibrahim Jibril (Environment (State)); Suleiman Adamu (Water Resources and Rural Development); Mustapha Shehuri (Power (State)); Prof. Claudius Daramola (Niger Delta Affairs (State)) and Kemi Adeosun (Finance) as those who have not submitted themselves to verification.
The rest are Prof. Isaac Adewole (Health); Okechukwu Enelamah (Trade, Investment and Industry); Geoffrey Onyema (Foreign Affairs ); Muhammadu Bello (Federal Capital Territory); Senator Hadi Sirika (Aviation (State)); Hajiya Khadija Bukar (Foreign Affairs(State)); Senator Chris Ngige (Labour and Employment); Heineken Lokpobiri (Agriculture and Rural Development (State)); Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu (Science and Technology); and Abubakar Bwari (Solid Minerals (State) ).
Other public officers still expected to submit themselves to the bureau are:

Sule Kazaure; Executive Secretary, Nigeria Sao-Tome & Principle Joint Development Authority, Kashim Tumash; Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Maikanti Baru; Controller-General of Federal Fire Service, Anebi Garba; Director-General, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Ben Akabueze, and Managing Director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Commission, Ibrahim Umaru.
Others include the Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Adamu; Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Mrs. Hadiza Usman; Managing Director, Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, Ahmed Kuru, and Controller-General of MSCDS, Muhammad Abdullahi.
The Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, who are on the list, are Ntom Chukwu, Folusho Adebanjo, Emmanuel Inyang, Maigari Dikko, Joshak Habila, Shuaibu Gambo, and Hyacinth Dagala.
An Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Bube, is also on the list.
Military officers, whose names appear on the list, are Real Admiral Joseph Osa (Commandant, Operation Delta Safe) and Major General M. A. Koleoso (GOC Tradoc).
The CCB also listed a number of Federal Commissioners of the Civil Service Commission and three Group Executive Directors of the NNPC, who are yet to submit themselves to the CCB’s verification.
The CCB said that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and five other ministers, among 15 other former and serving public officers, had submitted themselves to the asset verification.
The CCB boss commended those that had turned up for the exercise as expected by Nigeria’s law.

Pastor who allegedly got stuck in Ogun shrine finally opens up
A Pastor, Prince Adewale Fagbire, who was alleged to have been struck dumb and motionless when he invaded his community shrine at Ketu–Ayetoro in Yewa North area of Ogun state while pulling it down, has told The Nation that though the town’s traditionalists assaulted him with “charms and other fetish objects,” but he was not “harmed” at all.
Prince Fagbire, who is a Pastor at the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Ayetoro, said he actually entered the shrine, evacuated all the fetish items that were kept there and also took a position beside the entrance to it in quietness as instructed by God…
Prince Fagbire, son of the past Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Taiwo Fagbire, who joined his ancestors in 1981 after his 20year reign in the agrarian community, said his late father and monarch, used to take him to the said shrine occasionally when he was alive.
Narrating his experience to The Nation and a handful of reporters, at the Office of the Chairman, Ogun State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Tunde Akin in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Fagbire said he elected to “remain calm and mute” during the assault and interrogation at the shrine by the traditionalists and some villagers.
Speaking in the presence of over a dozen of Christian leaders from CAN and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in the State, he said God instructed him to stay calm and not utter a word at the shrine.
The father of two noted that his not talking or not uttering a word on the site of the shrine had nothing to do with his being beaten with “charms and fetish objects” by the traditionalists as what they did had no physical or spiritual effects on him.
According to him, it was also not true as reported in some section of the media that the priests and custodians of the shrine upon the intervention of the Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, treated or healed him before he could regain his consciousness.
His words: “I was conscious, physically and mentally sound, during and after the incident because God was already with me. I followed the instruction of the LORD to enter the shrine and packed all the items there away. I followed God’s instruction to be quiet as instructed by God.
“God told me to go there (the shrine), create a scene, step aside and watch the film (the unfolding events). They struck me with charms and nothing happened to me. They know the truth, nobody treated me and I spoke when I got to the Palace of the Oba.”
Although the traditionalists demanded N300,000 from a church in the community where Fagbire had once preached and also N200,000 from the pastor’s family to perform sacrifices to appease the gods for his alleged sacrilege but nothing was given to them.

Iraqi grandmother 'beheads and cooks' Isis soldiers
A gun-toting Iraqi housewife has boasted of beheading Islamic State (Isis) militants before boiling their heads in cooking pots.
Grandmother Wahida Mohamed Al-Jumaily says her brutal treatment of the extremists is to avenge the
deaths of her two husbands, three brothers and her father who were killed by Isis.
The 39-year-old, who carries a Beretta 9-mm pistol in a holster under her arm, says that her actions have led to personal threats from IS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. So respected in battle after 12 years of skirmishes with IS, and their predecessors, she now commands 70 soldiers in Shirqat, northern Iraq, it is claimed.
Shirqat, around 50 miles (80km) south of Mosul in Salahuddin province, has recently been liberated from the terrorists after took over the town in 2014. Her battles with the extremists have left her with shrapnel in her head and legs and broken ribs, she says.
And the brash mother-of-two daughters, better known as Um Hanadi, posts her exploits to her Facebook page – where she shows off severed heads and stands amongst dead militants. She told CNN: “I fought them. I beheaded them. I cooked their heads, I burned their bodies.
“This is all documented. You can see it on my Facebook page.”
She says she is so hated by Isis that their fighters have planted car bombs outside her home at least eight times (in 2006, 2009, 2010, three in 2013 and one in 2014) and they have even killed her livestock. Al-Jumaily believes that Isis warlord al-Baghdad desperately wants to kill her: “I’m at the top of their most wanted list – even more than the Prime Minister”.
She added: “Six times they tried to assassinate me. I have shrapnel in my head and legs, and my ribs were broken. But all that didn’t stop me from fighting.”
Al-Jumaily, who describes herself as a “rabat manzal” (a housewife), began working with the government to fight terror groups in 2004. She has fought terrorists in many guises as Isis began life as al-Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the Mujahideen Shura Council, al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) and Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) before their current incarnation.

US invests $50m in Niger drone base
The US is investing at least $50m in a military air base in Niger that will be capable of deploying drones.
The US already has a presence in the capital Niamey, where it shares an airbase with France’s anti-Islamist
force, Operation Barkhane.
MQ-9 Reaper drones are stationed there.
But the new facility, in the central city of Agadez, will give Washington greater ability to use drones against Islamist extremists in neighbouring countries like Libya, Mali and Nigeria.
A spokeswoman for the Pentagon, Michelle Baldanza, confirmed the US had agreed to pay for a new runway and “associated pavements, facilities and infrastructure”.
She estimated the cost at $50m but The Intercept, which first reported the story, said it is projected to cost twice that.
The investigative news site reports that it has obtained files that show the project is considered “the most important US military construction effort in Africa” and will be completed in 2017.
Drones, also known as UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) or RPAs (Remotely Piloted Aircraft) are used by the military for surveillance and to drop bombs, in places where it is too risky or difficult to send a pilot.

Heartless Gunmen Kill Man, Two Sons, Injure Wife, Daughters In Lagos
There was a bloodbath on Thursday in the Ipakodo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, after some gunmen invaded a residence and shot dead a man and his two sons.
The attackers, who were suspected to be sent, after killing the man, Celestine Nwokoye, and his sons, also shot his wife and his two daughters, leaving them for dead.
According to The Punch, the incident occurred on Thursday on Agbose Street in the Ebute, Ipakodo area around 5am. Policemen from the Ipakodo division removed the victims’ corpses.
The wife and the injured daughters were rushed to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
The two deceased sons were three years old and two months old.
A resident of Ebute, who visited the scene, but did not want his name in print, said the attackers were suspected to be sent.
He said, “The man’s house is located on Agbose Street, off Oluodo Junction. He worked at a taxi park in the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja. The killers came on Thursday morning. They shot him and all the members of his family. He and two male children died instantly, while they left his wife and the two daughters with bullet injuries.
“The attackers were not robbers; they went to only the man’s apartment. I was told that they did not take away any property. That is why everyone suspects that the killers were sent. They shot all members of his family presumably, so that no one would be able to report to the police.
“But policemen from the Ipakodo division later came to our area to take photographs and remove the bodies. The policemen were all over our area.”
A landlord, told The Punch that the attackers could also be suspected r*pists, known popularly in the area as Badoo, who had been terrorising and attacking residents.
“A week ago, a man and his child were attacked and stabbed to death in the Oke-Awori community in the Ibeshe area. Armed r*pists, known as Badoo, attacked the man and his child. They stabbed them to death. So, I suspect the attackers of Nwokoye could be Badoo. The police have a lot of work to do in our area,” he added.
A police source said late Mr. Nwokoye and his family members were attacked on the premises of a church in the area.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the deaths.
She said, “There was a report that the man and all members of his family were found in a pool of blood. He and his two male children were confirmed dead.
“His wife and two daughters were also seriously injured and they have been taken to a hospital for treatment. The command is working assiduously to unravel the occurrence. We have some leads which we are working on, and we are optimistic of breaking through.

UPDATE | Police invade Jibrin’s office, cart away documents
A combined team of security officials on Thursday stormed the office of the suspended ex-chairman of the Appropriations Committee of the House of Reps, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, at the National Assembly Complex. This is as Jibrin insisted that the House is a den of corruption.
The security team, made up of policemen and members of the Sergeant-at-Arms (internal security arm of the National Assembly), stormed the office at 2.07pm and left at about 3.10pm.
There was no sign of the embattled lawmaker but a handful of members of his staff were seen putting together what was believed to be some of his personal effects.
The security officials went away with some documents.
Jibrin, in a statement he addressed to his colleagues, said since his suspension on Wednesday, he had been under intense public scrutiny and pressure to prove his allegations against the House.
He said, “I have taken it as a responsibility to prove to the public that the House is a den of systemic corruption. As colleagues, I have bound with many of you and have built a life-long friendship.
“I have some of you that I hold in high esteem. If you end up at the receiving end of the actions I will be taking up in the next few days, I want you to know there is nothing personal but commitment and fervent desire to ensure that corruption is wiped out of the House and reforms that will restore the battered image of the House and take back the House to the Nigerian people are implemented.”
Consequently, he demanded that any of his colleagues who had illegally taken or stolen any money meant for the running cost of their offices should return same to the public treasury within one week or risk exposure and prosecution.
Jibrin said, “I have written to the Clerk of the National Assembly to stand by in anticipation. In the face of the revenue challenges and biting hardship the country is currently facing, there is no better time the country needs such money than now.
“In the case of the Presiding and Principal Officers, in addition to my demand in this letter which applies to them too, I wrote them yesterday (on Wednesday) and gave them a 72-hour ultimatum to make public the total amount they had received as running cost in their entire stay in the House, failure of which I will proceed with necessary legal action to compel them to make the total amount each of them had received public.
“There are other issues of monumental corruption in the House that I will be raising in the following weeks which we must all deal with, but first, let’s get done with this one.”

'Priests Are An Endangered Species' In Nigeria: One Kidnapped, Two Shot
A senior Nigerian priest has been kidnapped after the car in which he was travelling was stopped, allegedly by Fulani herdsmen.
Fr Emmanuel Dim, Rector of Tansi Major Seminary, was with two other priests, who were both injured
when they were attacked on Monday. One of them, Fr Chukwuemeka, a university chaplain, was shot in the head and is receiving treatment in hospital.
According to the director of communications for the Diocese of Nnewi in Anambra State, Fr Hyginus Aghaulor, Dim is still being held by the kidnappers, who are demanding a ransom of N2.5 million (about £6,000 or $8,000).
However, Aghaulor said: “The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has decided and directed that ransom should not be paid for the kidnap of any of its priests and anybody that is demanding for ransom for the release of any priest kidnapped is wasting time. If anybody or group goes ahead to pay ransom for the release of any priest, the person or the group is on his own.”
He said: “One begins to wonder if Catholic priest have become [an] endangered species.”
The kidnapping is the latest in a spate of incidents involving clergy in Nigeria. On the same day a Vincentian priest whose name has not been confirmed was kidnapped with his brother. Another priest, Fr Emmanuel Ugwu, was kidnapped in August and a seminarian was murdered.
Aghaulor criticised the governors of southeastern Nigeria, saying: “While innocent people are left unprotected, we have seen barrage of military wares and personnel protecting the pipelines in Niger Delta, as if oil is more important than people’s life. Why should people be killed without provocation in their own traditional lands?”
Conflict between the Muslim Fulani herdsmen and the Christian population reflects clashes between nomadic pastoralists and settled farmers, whose ways of life are in tension.

LOS ANGELES — Kevin Hart has been crowned as the world’s highest-paid comedian by Forbes, ending Jerry Seinfeld’s nine-year reign.
According to Forbes’ list, Hart earned a whopping US$87.5 million (S$119 million) between June last year
and June this year thanks to stadium tours, and both big- and small-screen appearances, pushing Seinfeld to second place with US$43.5 million.
Amy Schumer also made history as the first-ever woman to crack Forbes’ list, coming in at fourth with US$17 million.
While much of Schumer’s earnings came from her stand-up tour with Aziz Ansari, her award-winning Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer, US$8 million book deal for The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo, and commercial work helped her sandwich in-between ventriloquists Terry Fator in third with US$21 million and Jeff Dunham in fifth with US$13.5 million.

Philippines' Duterte likens himself to Hitler, wants to kill millions of drug users
MANILA – Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte appeared to liken himself to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler on Friday and said he would “be happy” to exterminate three million drug users and peddlers in the country.
His comments triggered shock and anger among Jewish groups in the United States, which will add to
pressure on the U.S. government to take a tougher line with the Philippines leader. Duterte recently insulted President Barack Obama and in a series of remarks he has undermined the previously close relationship between Manila and Washington.
In a rambling speech on his arrival in Davao City after a visit to Vietnam, Duterte told reporters that he had been “portrayed to be a cousin of Hitler” by critics.
Noting that Hitler had murdered millions of Jews, Duterte said: “There are three million drug addicts (in the Philippines). I’d be happy to slaughter them.
“If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have…,” he said, pausing and pointing to himself.
“You know my victims. I would like (them) to be all criminals to finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition.”
Duterte was voted to power in a May election on the back of a vow to end drugs and corruption in the country of 100 million people. He took office on June 30 and over 3,100 people have been killed since then, mostly alleged drug users and dealers, in police operations and in vigilante killings.
His comments were quickly condemned by Jewish groups.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Digital Terrorism and Hate project, called them “outrageous”.
“Duterte owes the victims (of the Holocaust) an apology for his disgusting rhetoric.”
The Anti-Defamation League, an international Jewish group based in the United States, said Duterte’s comments were “shocking for their tone-deafness”.
“The comparison of drug users and dealers to Holocaust victims is inappropriate and deeply offensive,” said Todd Gutnick, the group’s director of communications. “It is baffling why any leader would want to model himself after such a monster.”
EX-PRESIDENT’S WARNING
Two days before the Philippines election, outgoing President Benigno Aquino had warned that Duterte’s rising popularity was akin to that of Hitler in the 1920s and 1930s.
“I hope we learn the lessons of history,” Aquino said in widely reported remarks. “We should remember how Hitler came to power.”
Duterte has been scathing about criticism of his anti-drugs campaign and has insulted the United Nations and the European Union, as well as Obama, at various times in recent weeks.
On Friday, reacting to critical comments on his war on drugs by U.S. Senators Patrick Leahy and Benjamin Cardin, Duterte said: “Do not pretend to be the moral conscience of the world. Do not be the policeman because you do not have the eligibility to do that in my country.”
He also reiterated there will be no annual war games between the Philippines and the United States until the end of his six-year term, placing the longstanding alliance under a cloud of doubt. It also may make Washington’s strategy of rebalancing its military focus towards Asia in the face of an increasingly assertive China much more difficult to achieve.
Still, U.S. Defence Secretary Ash Carter, speaking before the latest remarks from Duterte, said Washington had an “ironclad” alliance with Manila.
A senior U.S. defense official, also speaking earlier, told reporters that the United States had a long enduring relationship with the Philippines regardless of who was president.
“It’s going to continue to survive based on what we think are strong U.S.-Philippines common security interests, so we’ll be engaging President Duterte further,” the official said. REUTERS
