'Let's make this fight happen'- Floyd Mayweather calls out UFC star Conor McGregor to fight him

Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has called out UFC champion Conor McGregor, saying it’s high time they fought for the enjoyment of the fans. McGregor and Mayweather have been attacking each other on social media for months now and the retired boxer who turned 40 on Saturday has now officially called out the UFC star.

‘I’m here to say today, on my birthday, they keep throwing the Conor McGregor name out there,’ Mayweather told Showtime Boxing. ‘Conor McGregor, like I said before, I’m here let’s make it happen.’

‘Let’s make the fight happen. Let’s give the fans what they want to see. There’s only one fight out there that’s important and that’s Mayweather and Conor McGregor.’

Mayweather has already been made the overwhelming favorite as the fight between him and Conor will be a boxing match with McGregor, a kick boxer/martial artiste never engaged in a professional boxing fight before..
But Mayweather  has insisted that Conor can still match him in the ring as a boxer.

‘I mean cause every time Conor McGregor goes out there and compete and win, he do it standing up,’ Mayweather said in response to the idea that he’ll defeat Conor.

‘When Conor McGregor did lose, he lost on the ground. He didn’t lose standing up. So he’s a hell of a fighter and a very, very tough competitor and he has the will to win.

‘The UFC gloves is no different from boxing gloves, they just a little bit smaller but if a guy got power, he got power and Conor McGregor got power.’

We don’t really have to talk about that. We already know what my number is. My team and us, our number is there,’ Mayweather said reference how much guaranteed money he would need to fight McGregor.

‘He has to get his thing in order with his team.

‘Once Conor McGregor speaks with the UFC and his bosses, and then we can make it happen. Because we already know that Floyd Mayweather is his own boss. We’ve got Showtime [pay-per-view], Mayweather Promotions, which is the past and present and the future of sports and entertainment.’

He added:

‘I don’t know if the fight is going to happen. If it did happen that would be my last, my final fight. It can be the biggest fight in the history of the sport, we just don’t know.’

Wife assassinates husband over affair with young woman

A teacher has admitted to hiring gunmen to shoot her cheating husband, an ex border ranger in the Thung Song area of Nakorn Sri Thammara, Thailand. Wichai Seedarort, 61, had just taken his wife, Rawwadee Seedarot, 55, to school last Friday morning, February 24th, on a motorcycle and was on his way home when he was shot three times in the back, reported Thairath.
Two men had followed him from the school on another bike. The gunman then coolly got off the bike and fired one more shot to finish him off. The hitmen are believed to be locals and are being hunted. Thung Song police said a massive investigation was mounted after the assassination and they soon had a warrant issued for the arrest of the victim’s wife.

After an intense interrogation she broke down in tears and admitted that she had hired an intermediary to contact two gunmen to kill her husband.

Wichai was a former border ranger attached to the Sri Nakharin Camp 42 in the southern province. The wife said that she had paid 17,000 baht up front and was due to pay the rest on completion of the crime. But she was arrested before she could pay.

She said she asked 39 year old Arundech (Dech) Janprung to arrange the hit. He has also been arrested but denies involvement. Raewadee said she ordered the hit after confronting her husband many times over an affair with a young woman. She said that she was constantly beaten by him in relation to the affair that he would not end. She could not tolerate his behavior so decided to have him shot.
Thung Song police said that Dech was likely to change his story when cops arrest the hired gunmen who they believe are locals in Thung Song. They expect an arrest shortly. “We solved the crime in just one day,” said a spokesman at Thung Song station.

The local district chief said that the teacher wife had been suspended from her duties as the investigation continues. Both her and the alleged organizer of the hit have been detained.

The anti-narcotics agency also arrested two suspected drug traffickers at the airport while attempting to smuggle 2.035kg of cocaine concealed in cassava flour to Nairobi, Kenya and 2.485kg of cannabis to Qatar. The abandoned consignment which originated from Pakistan was left unclaimed on the conveyor belt at the arrival hall during the inward screening of passengers on Etihad Airways flight. NDLEA commander at the airport, Ahmadu Garba said that the abandoned heroin was hidden inside a bag of clothes.

“Officers detected 6.158kg of heroin hidden amidst clothes in the abandoned luggage. Man U fans should go to Ibrahimovic's house if it will make him sign a new contract – Jose Mourinho

Former Ajax, Juventus, Barca and PSG star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is yet to sign a new contract extension with Manchester United, and coach Jose Mourinho, fresh from winning the English Football League Cup on Sunday night, has urged Man U fans to go to his house and sleep there all night if that’s what it’ll take to make him sign new deal with the club.
Zlatan, 36, has been in astronomical and sensational for Man U this season, scoring 26 goals for United in his maiden season for the club, with his two goals in Sunday Night’s final enough to give Mourinho’s men EFL cup success.
Ibrahimovic signed a one year deal with Man U, and has an option to extend for a further year, but is stalling on contract negotiations, and Mourinho has urged the fans to do the needful.

‘I never bank for a player to sign a contract,’ Mourinho said to journalists.

‘But, if needed, I think maybe United fans can go to the door of his house and stay there all night. If needed, I think they will go for sure.

‘We all want and all believe that he is going to stay with us one more season.

‘Only a silly player comes to England when he is 35-years-old and with the successful career that Zlatan has. Only a silly player comes here if he doesn’t feel that he can do it.

When he decides to take the challenge to come to a country like this and to a club like Manchester United, he takes that decision because he feels ready.

‘The most important feeling is his feeling. I don’t bring him here if he doesn’t want to come, if he’s not ready. It’s his character mine. Everything is from him, nothing from me.’

Ibrahimovic, who won his 32nd trophy, with the EFL Cup success said;

‘This is what I came for,’

‘I came to win and I am winning. I just have to keep going, but the more I win the more satisfied I get.

‘You appreciate it more the older you get. In the beginning it is more like fun, you don’t realise what a trophy means.

‘The older I get, the more mature I get, the more I am surrounded by a winning mentality. It is all about winning those trophies. This is what I am doing. Wherever I have gone I have won.

‘This is what I predicted. Everything I thought would happen has. I think the other ones didn’t see it. When I came here to show them what I saw apparently to many I could not do it.

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo consults President Buhari daily before taking decisions – Presidency

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Political Affairs, Babafemi Ojudu, says acting President Yemi Osinbajo, is working very hard to impress President Buhari that he can manage the affairs of the country in his absence. Ojudu said this while reacting to the comparisons Nigerians have made on the effectiveness of both men since President Buhari went on vacation.

Some Nigerians believe that Osinbajo has performed better in the last one month. Speaking with State House correspondents yesterday, Ojudu said Osinbajo consults President Buhari before taking any decision almost on a daily basis;

“Almost on a daily basis, yes.‎ Well, there are things he still needs to consult the president. I mean it is not a regular thing, but major decisions he still has to consult Mr. President. The president is still the president. I’ll give you an example. There’s nothing that has been done since the vice president started acting that is not something that started far back in the past. A good example is the Niger Delta initiative. The president called the vice president and said I am giving you the mandate, go into the Niger Delta meet with everyone who is a stakeholder, all the communities, talk to the militants and make sure you solve this problem for the benefits of Nigerians. We’re losing 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, all the gas pipelines powering the turbines are being blown up. And the president has said unless and until we resolve this problem we will not get out of recession. The VP took up the mandate and went to the Niger Delta. It is the initiative of Mr. President, not that of Vice President. One other thing you have to see is that if you give someone a responsibility, he must be able to show to Mr. President that despite that he is not being around, it is not going to create any vacuum. He can then decide not to sleep at all, all through the time the president is away just to show him that he is capable of ensuring that Nigeria goes on well while he is away. And the President could also have given the mandate that let nothing go wrong, I believe in you, I appointed you as my Vice President, you must make sure that you do this. If you have a boss who gives you an assignment, you will want to impress him and Nigerians as well and that for me is what has happened. ‎Is not that one person is better than the other, certainly not.”he said

Lagos state govt to crush over 4000 impounded motorcycles

Speaking with journalists at the Olusosun refuse dump site in Ojota, the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni on Monday, said the government will start crushing and recycling over 4,000 impounded commercial motorcycles, (aka Okada) in line with the provisions of the State Traffic Law of 2012. Owoseni said the recent restriction on Okadas was due to the government’s resolve to fight security concerns posed by criminal operators, adding that criminals habitually use okada to perpetrate crime and easily get away from the scene of the crime.

 He said:

“It would not be one off. So far, we have impounded about 500 motorcycles since we started our renewed efforts and we now have a total of about 4,000 bikes ready to be crushed. The law made provisions on how those motorcycles should be handled and the law also made provision on how to handle those that have flouted the law itself.

“The operators of the commercial motorcycles and those patronizing them, with time, you will get to see the Mobile Court going around to try some of those that have been arrested. What we are saying here is that we want people in Lagos to know that there is a law and the law is made for a purpose and if all of us obey the law and conform, the better for us.”

Owoseni said due to the constant challenges that prevent government officials to properly enforce the law, the state government is considering to completely ban Okada activities in some areas like Lekki and Victoria Island.

He continued:

“The Okada riders, no doubt, have been a sort of menace. They go into the road and flout the laws with impunity. When they get to where you have the traffic lights, they behave as if it is not meant for them and combine with that is the way the criminal elements put the motorcycles to either snatch money or use them as a getaway in some areas and the same law says that citizens should not patronize commercial motorcycles on prohibited routes.

“Not only that, the law says that by 8 p.m., they should not be on the road and so the message we are passing is that this is not going to be a one-off thing, we will continue and sustain it. We just like to appeal to people to stop patronizing Okada plying restricted routes,” Owoseni said.

Corroborating him, Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Olanrewaju Elegushi said the administration of Ambode recently warned all commercial motorcycles to steer clear of restricted routes as the clampdown on defaulters would be total.

“We have an enforcement unit led by the Commissioner of Police, the Task Force on Environmental and Other Special Offences, the Divisional Police Officers and the Area Commanders. They have started enforcement and we came to see how far they have gone,” Elegushi said.

Ghanaian traditional leader threatens to ban spiritual gatherings over false prophecies

Naba Asigri Abugragoe Azoka II, Paramount Chief of the Bawku traditional area in Ghana, has threatened to ban spiritual gatherings over the increasing numbers of people posing as men of God and misleading the public with false prophecies. In a statement, he issued to all the Churches in the Bawku area last weekend, he said false prophecies were generating problems, with some family members being accused of witchcraft and causing harm to their family.

‘These pastors come to form churches in this area and engage the community members in prayers and what they call deliverance services, then they prophesise about their lives and end up labeling some family members of their church members wizards or witches’, he said.

The chief in his statement also threatened to ban spiritual gatherings, if Pastors keep engaging in false prophecies.

Fake N5bn Tyres Into Nigeria: SON Arrests Two Chinese

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has arrested 2 Chinese nationals, Taolung Shen and Xu Jing Yau, who were described as dealers in substandard tyres worth over N5bn.

The suspects, according to a statement, were paraded following their arrest, and the sealing of the warehouse where they had been cloning different sizes of tyres under different brand names.

The suspects, the statement added, churned out the substandard tyres into the Nigerian market under brand names such as Powertrac, Aptany, Harmony, Duraturn, Bearway, City Tour, Winda, Glory, Chachland, City Grand, Grandsonte and Sunny.

According to SON, the suspects brought the substandard tyres into Nigeria by stuffing them into one another.

“Sometimes as many as five tyres were stuffed into one and the tyres would have bent and ruptured in several places, thereby looking weak and slack.

“But the Chinese adorned the tyres with new labels and shinny linings to create the impression of being new and healthy,” SON said.

Some of the tyres found in the warehouse had post-dated manufacturing dates.

The agency’s Director General, Osita Aboloma, who conducted journalists round the warehouse, described the tyres as dead on arrival, saying allowing the sale of such tyres in the country amounted to “surreptitiously taking away the lives of millions of Nigerians.”

He observed that by stuffing the tyres into one another and conveying them through the sea from China to Lagos, the quality of the tyres had already been compromised.

Aboloma also noted that the crude way the tyres were separated on arrival in Nigeria and the poor storage facility, without sufficient aeration, in the warehouse had further compromised their quality.

“The SON Directorate of Compliance intercepted one of their trucks on the highway, tracked it and then this.

“You can see the amount of danger that these people are posing to our people and our economy just because they want to make huge profit at the expense of the lives of Nigerians.

“It is a clear case of investing millions in illicit business in order to take away the lives of millions of Nigerians, to destroy the lives of millions of Nigerians. If we allow something like this, it will amount to killing Nigerians,” Aboloma said.

The DG said there would be no hiding place for people who dealt in adulterated products.

Abortion, bribery rock Lagos Police College… senior officers, abortion syndicate, money, etc.

A police syndicate collected money and secretly carried out abortions for female cadets at the Police College, Lagos, to falsify pregnancy tests, Punch’s Olaleye Aluko, who went undercover to the police hospital for two days, reports.

A major scandal is brewing within the heart of the nation’s best-known police college, the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos.

Tinuola Akande, a former cadet, is one of the individuals caught in the web of this scandal.
The other characters in the drama, which started earlier this year, are other female cadets, senior police officers and an abortion syndicate comprising medical doctors at the police hospital.

Akande and other police cadets were some months into their training at the police college when they were told that they would have to take a pregnancy test. They were also told that female cadets who tested positive would be dismissed. So, when she tested positive during the routine test, Akande knew there was danger. Desperate to save her career, she sought the help of an abortion syndicate in the police hospital. The syndicate promised to abort the pregnancy and also find a way to change the result of the first test and replace it with the new one.

“I can recall the day the abortion was conducted. It was Friday, February 3, 2017. The doctor collected N15,000 from me,” she said. Akande was smuggled into the hospital in the middle of the night and a medical doctor conducted the abortion.

“But after (the abortion), I was still dismissed. I went back to the doctor and he said I should go and be prayerful. Six of us had abortions at the police hospital,” Akande told our correspondent last week. The results were not changed.

Our correspondent, who posed as a human rights activist, met with four of the five dismissed cadets. The cadets were reluctant to talk. They were afraid of dismissal. However, when they finally spoke, they gave mind-boggling insights into the activities of an abortion syndicate in the heart of the country’s best-known police college.

Police doctor demanded N35,000 for abortion

Twenty-five-year-old Hafsat Mohammed, a mother of one and a former cadet inspector from Kebbi State, is one of the cadets who tested positive to the pregnancy test.

“When the pregnancy test conducted on me showed that I was positive, one of the doctors at the police hospital asked me to bring N35,000 so that I could abort my pregnancy. I told him I had only N15,000. He said N15,000 was not enough. So, from that day, I ignored him and deleted his number,” she said.

Mohammed, who was desperate to remain in the school, went for the abortion at a private hospital. She paid N10,000. Yet, she was dismissed. She believed she was dismissed because she refused to cooperate with the abortion syndicate at the police hospital.

“Two weeks ago, the commandant called five of us and said a signal from Abuja said we should be dismissed. I have lost my pregnancy. But I know my name was included for dismissal because I did not agree to pay the doctor at the police hospital for abortion. My pregnancy was eight weeks. My husband knew about the abortion. Now we are both pained because the police work I tried to keep is gone,” she lamented.

Twenty-four-year-old Adejobi Oluwaseun, who hails from Lagos State is among the dismissed five. He told our correspondent that a senior police officer invited her and asked for a bribe to falsify the pregnancy test results.

Oluwaseun said, “I was a cadet constable. My pregnancy was not up to a month. I had the abortion outside the police hospital. I did not initially know the doctors at the hospital were collecting money (to carry out an abortion and change the list).

“We were on the field and we having a practice session on a day when I was called to the hospital. A senior police officer said I should bring money so that she could help falsify the pregnancy test results. I told her I would see her later. She then said I should go.

“One of the persons that also tested positive to the test later told me that she paid N15,000 to a doctor (name withheld) and had her pregnancy aborted. I was sad that she did not inform me to take that option and now I have been dismissed from the training.”

How it all began
Our correspondent learnt that all the cadets at the Police College, Ikeja, started their training on November 31, 2016. The duration of the training is 12 months for cadet inspectors and nine months for cadet constables.

The inspectors were drawn from all 36 states of the federation while the constables were selected from Lagos, Osun and Ondo states. About 2,000 police trainees are currently at the college.

It was gathered that the pregnancy test is a directive from the Force Headquarters, Abuja, in January 2017. A source at the office of the commandant of the college said over 200 female cadets were tested at the laboratory department of the police hospital.

He said, “The test was done till around 9pm. Over 200 ladies were screened. Out of that number, about 15 cadets tested positive to pregnancy. However, 13 names were on the list released from the laboratory department.” The source did not explain why the names of two cadets who also tested positive were omitted from the list.

During his visit to the hospital, our correspondent persuaded one of the policemen to share the laboratory report, the document containing the names of the cadets who tested positive. The policeman agreed and supplied the document. The document was signed by the hospital’s Medical Director, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Olubunmi Ogunsanwo.

The names on the list are: Otene Josephine, Iboyi Laughter, Helen Ojo, Enveche Gloria, Hafsat Mohammed, Aniyeloye Aderonke, Ilesanmi Omotola, Adejobi Oluwaseun, Adebobola Tolani, John Virginia, Ayo Olamide, Tinuola Akande. However, our correspondent couldn’t get the name of the 13th cadet as the source held the document and refused to release it while our correspondent hurriedly copied them. (Our correspondent pleaded to be allowed to photograph the document, but the source also refused.)

Inside the syndicate
A source privy to the events of the period said that a doctor who is a member of the abortion syndicate invited the 13 cadets and advised them to consider aborting their pregnancies.

The source added that the female cadets were warned to keep the abortion as a secret. They were also told to be “grateful” to the hospital workers for providing an “escape route.” However, he added that not all the cadets agreed to work with the syndicate.

A hospital worker, who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, gave insights into what happened at the hospital.

“The nurses at the hospital cannot claim ignorance of the abortions. We knew when the ladies were smuggled into the theatre and taken to the ward thereafter to look like ordinary patients.

“Ask them to produce the original pregnancy test list. They cannot because it will put the hospital authorities in trouble. The heads of all the departments in the hospital are aware of the abortion scandal but they have been warned to keep it a top secret. Most of them were shocked at the falsification of the pregnancy test results by the syndicate,” she said.

The source said that police officers within the college were unhappy with the injustice meted to the cadets. He added that the officers could not protest because top officials of the hospital were involved in the scandal.

The source said, “The dismissed ladies and their states have been shortchanged because the allocation to their states has now been reduced. The five ladies are still lobbying the police authorities in Lagos and Abuja to consider their plight, but whether that will be successful or not, we do not know.

“How is it possible that some of the cadets who tested positive to pregnancy test on January 19 suddenly tested negative and were cleared to continue their training? The police hospital must be asked to provide an explanation for that.

“We should also ask the commandant of the college how many of the trainees were pregnant and how many names were submitted to him by the medical director? If the police had done a clean job and submitted all the names of the 13 female cadets, there would be no controversy.”

NMA demands investigation
The Nigerian Medical Association has lent its voice to condemn the act.

The NMA President, Prof. Mike Ogirima, who was briefed on the saga in the police hospital, told our correspondent that the security agencies must investigate and bring anyone found culpable to face the law.

“Constitutionally in Nigeria, abortion is not allowed. Although, we may have some unavoidable situations where there can be loss of pregnancies. But we have always maintained that there is a need to sanitise the medical practice and guard against the activities of quacks.

“The government agency which handles this is the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Therefore, we must beam searchlights on places where these illicit acts are carried out, and we must bring all those culpable to face the law.

“There are several branches in the medical practice, and a doctor who is trained to deal with the issues of pregnancy is a gynaecologist. Therefore, my take is that the government must begin to rid the system of all elements perpetrating such illicit practice,” he explained.

We’ll find out about allegation — Police
When contacted, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, said he would find out from the commandant of the college, and get back to Punch.

The Force spokesperson did not get back with further details as of press time.

When contacted, the Medical Director of the hospital, ACP Olubunmi Ogunsanwo, said he was not authorised to speak on the incident, but denied that abortions were conducted at the hospital.

He said, “Can I see you in person? I don’t want to be quoted on this. But there is no truth in that allegation.

“A police hospital cannot do such thing. What happened was that I was not the coordinator of that screening exercise. It was a woman. She just forwarded the results to me and I did same to my Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Abuja.”

The phone conversation was four minutes and two seconds.

A text message was also sent to the Commandant of the college, CP Chris Ezike, which had yet to be replied to, as of press time.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, confirmed that 295 female cadets underwent the pregnancy tests and other medical examination, adding that the only the dismissed five tested positive.

The Force spokesman refuted any allegation of abortion at the police hospital, saying it was “spurious because abortion is illegal and criminal.”

He said, “As part of the police process of recruitment, we published the names of all the cadets in the newspaper. We did that so that anyone with questionable character can be identified and asked to go.

“Medical tests were conducted, including pregnancy tests for females. There was a second directive that all training schools, including Ikeja should carry out pregnancy tests. Out of 295 female cadets in Ikeja, only those five were found to be positive.

“There is no way to bring in a pregnant woman into training. The health of the mother and the unborn child is paramount. So, if anyone among those asked to go is making allegations that some cadets were positive and aborted, we will carry out our investigation.

“I have spoken with the commandant and he has confirmed that nothing like abortion took place. There is no ground for spurious allegations. Abortion is illegal and unlawful, and police institutions cannot do that. It was only those five dismissed that were found positive.”

UPDATE: UK approves Diezani’s trial for ‘money laundering’

*EFCC takes more proof to London to nail her
All is set for the trial of a former Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, and four others in London for alleged corrupt practices.

The trial has been fixed  and more evidence were hauled to the United Kingdom by the EFCC.

Part of the evidence are the proceedings of a Federal High Court in respect of the order of final forfeiture of $153million allegedly traced to the ex-minister.

It was also learnt that one of the suspects had been found at a hideout in London and placed under surveillance.

There have been reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was negotiating with Mrs. Alison-Madueke. The EFCC yesterday said it was not engaged in any secret negotiation with her.

According to a source in the anti-graft agency, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, the agency is set for the trial.

The source said: “The UK investigators have gone far on the allegations against Diezani. From the records made available, the ex-minister and four others will face trial as from June.

“We have taken more evidence to the UK, including all court records relating to the final forfeiture of $153million. We have a huge pile of documents.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “In fact, one of the suspects on the radar of investigators has been located in London and he is under surveillance.” He declined to name the suspect.

On the reported negotiation with the former minister, the source said: “There is no basis to negotiate with the ex-Minister in view of the overwhelming evidence at our disposal. You should ask yourself what purpose the negotiation will serve.

“The EFCC is set for the trial of the ex-minister at home and abroad. It is curious to be talking of a curious negotiation with someone who has a prima facie case to answer.

“The ex-minister has forfeited $153m; we have had far-reaching investigation on her involvement in the $115m poll bribery scandal; we have seized some of her choice properties and she has consistently maintained that she is ready for trial. So, what is the basis for negotiation when we have a good case?”

The National Crime Agency (NCA) on October 2, 2015 arrested Mrs. Alison-Madueke and four others for alleged bribery and corruption and money laundering.

The former minister, whose movement has been restricted to the UK, remains under investigation.

The NCA found some of the ex-minister’s brothers and other business partners complicit in the money laundering allegation. She was arrested with her brothers.

Messrs Abiye Agama and Somye Agama are Mrs Alison-Madueke siblings who operate some UK-based businesses hurriedly shut them after the NCA and the EFCC searchlight became intense.

The two brothers are directors of Hadley Petroleum Solutions Limited, a company the authorities believe was used for money laundering. The other directors are Ugonna Madueke and Abu Fari.

The company was registered in June 2013 in Manchester, but was dissolved less than two years later last February without filing any account.

Abiye, 33, a point man of the firm, is a computer engineer and manager. He was a director in 11 other companies. He resigned from seven of them.

According to EFCC records, some of the assets linked with Mrs. Alison-Madueke are:

  • A block of six units service apartments on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi
  • Six units terrace flats in Yaba, Lagos Mainland
  • Twin four-bedroom duplexes in Lekki Phase I
  • Two duplexes on Banana Island
  • A duplex in Asokoro District, Abuja
  • A mini-estate in Mabushi, Abuja
  • A set of 12 terrace duplexes at Omaremi Street  in Port Harcourt
  • Large expanse of land at Oniru, Victoria Island in Lagos
  • A multi-billion Naira estate in Yenagoa
  • Two apartments in Dubai marked as J5 Emirates Hills (30million Dirham) and  E146 Emirates Hills valued at 44million Dirham
  • A hotel in Port Harcourt under investigation
  • $37.5m mansion on Banana Island in Lagos.

But Alison-Madueke had disputed some of the slush funds and assets attributed to her including the $153million.

She said: “I have up till now chosen to maintain my silence and not to respond to inaccurate press reporting. However, given the level of deliberate inaccuracies, I am now forced to respond because it is clear that the EFCC is taking advantage of my silence to try me by media and to convict me in the eyes of the public on false reports.”

“First and foremost, whilst the reasons for my being out of the country are public knowledge, the principle of fair hearing demands that I should have been notified of formal charges if truly there was a prima facie evidence or indictment against my person linking me with the said issue, so as to ensure that I had adequate legal representation. This was never done.

“I wish to state that I cannot forfeit what was never mine. I do not know the basis on which the EFCC has chosen to say that I am the owner of these funds as no evidence was provided to me before the order was obtained and they have not in fact served me with the order or, any evidence since they obtained it.

“I do not therefore, understand how the EFCC can in the same breath say that the monies in question are mine. If they had evidence that the monies were mine then they would not /should not, have used the procedure which applies only to funds of unknown ownership. If indeed they used this particular legal procedure because they did not know who owned the monies, then how can they now be falsely attributing the ownership to me.

“Let me re-state categorically as I have always maintained, for the record, I have not and will never steal money from or defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria.

“ I am willing to respond to any charges brought against me that follow duly laid down procedures.”

2. Consequently, on 25th February, 2017, about 1000hours, in the presence of two (2) private security officers employed by Dunes Investment, the cars were searched and the following items were recovered:

Weapons
(i) Glock pistol with two (2) magazines and a total of Twenty-Nine (29) rounds of ammunition;

5. It is in the light of this latest development that the Service wishes to sound a note of warning to persons and groups that it will no longer tolerate any acts of lawlessness by those who ought to be law abiding and responsible citizens. The Service has also observed with total dismay the inciting utterances of some political actors whose activities heat-up the polity. It also wishes to express its disappointment with these politicians who, in their desperation, are engaged in hate speeches and even sponsorship of radio campaign jingles when the electoral umpire has not authorized such campaigns in line with the Electoral Act. More worrisome is the unpatriotic involvement of some media outfits in these divisive tendencies which negate their constitutional role as the fourth estate of the realm.

6. In line with its statutory mandate of maintaining the peace and internal security of the country, the Service hereby restates its commitment to go after anyone no matter how highly placed who engages in acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the country.

FG To Engage Additional 350,000 Unemployed Graduates Under 2017 Budget

*SIPs will deliver to a greater, bigger number of Nigerians this year – Presidency
As different sections of the executive arm of the Federal Government are now defending the 2017 budget proposals before the National Assembly, new details are emerging on the continuation of the Social Investment Programmes, (SIP)of the Buhari presidency, including a plan to hire 350,000 more unemployed graduates under the N-Power Volunteer Corps.

According to the Senior Special Assiatant on Media & Publicity to the President, Office of the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande, President Buhari has requested appropriation of N157.75B in the 2017 budget estimates for the N-Power scheme.

The N-Power is just one of the many SIPs that has so far drawn the interest and praise of Nigerians across board, Akande observed adding that a lot more is to come, especially this year, urging Nigerians to actively come out and take advantage of the different schemes this year.

Out of the N-Power 2017 N157B 2017 budget ” 350,000 unemployed graduates more would be hired and trained, alongside 50,000 non-graduates youths to be engaged as artisans and in other creative ventures,” Akande disclosed in his weekly update on the Social Investment Programmes on Sunday.

Under the N157.75B also, a sum of N4.5B has been earmarked for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM program to support young Nigerians in building skills in those disciplines.

Akande who welcomed the great public enthusiasm the programmes have so far generated, noted that the SIP budget proposals for 2017 are currently being discussed this week at the National Assembly, and urged Nigerians to expect more this year especially in the area of implementation as virtually all of the SIPs are now undergoing different stages of implementation.

“While we were able to engage 200,000 unemployed graduates last year, we will do 350,000 more this year,” he assured, adding that some of the teething problems are giving way to lessons that would smoothen implementation under the 2017 budget.

Equally, under the 2017 budget proposals now before the National Assembly, Akande disclosed that about N75B has been allocated for the National Homegrown School Feeding Programme, which will provide one hot meal a day to 5 million primary school pupils. He explained again, that this would certainly be an improvement on how far the feeding programme has been implemented so far under the 2016 budget which has so far attained the feeding of about one million pupils.

The Spokesperson to the Acting President also stated that under the 2017 budget a sum of N112.2B has been allocated for the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme aimed at providing interest-free loans to up to 1.2million market men and women, traders, artisans, youths and farmers.

Under the GEEP, he explained that beneficiaries will receive between N10,000 and N100,000 loans with a one-time 5% administrative fee. Already under the 2016 budget, over 20,000 Nigerians in about 14 states and counting, have been benefiting from GEEP.

Similarly, the Conditional Cash Transfer which has kicked off in 9 states would be further expanded under the 2016 budget and will reach more states and much more Nigerians. The plan in 2016 budget targets one million poorest and vulnerable Nigerians. And in the 2017 budget an additional N54.98B has been allocated for the continuation of the N5000 monthly social safety net payments to the poorest Nigerians.

Akande further clarified that while President Muhammadu Buhari has further approved another N500B this year for all the social intervention programmes, N100B out of it has been allocated for the Family Homes Fund as already announced by the Ministry of Finance.

“2017 implementation of the SIP is going to be far more impactful than what we were able to do under the 2016 budget, so Nigerians should expect more this year, the resolve of the Buhari presidency is firm that more lives must be touched positively under this programmes which Nigerians have come to appreciate,” Akande concluded.

Lady Beaten & Disgraced for Falsely Accusing Innocent Man

The lady pictured above got more than she bargained for after being beaten by angry mob for falsely accusing a man of stealing and subjecting him to severe jungle justice.

Read how an eyewitness, Akin, reported the story:

“This happened this evening (yesterday) at Williams street, Bakery bus stop in Aguda Surulere, Lagos. This woman was beaten and disgraced for laying false allegation against a man that he stole a phone from her.

“Meanwhile this woman was already on okada running with the man’s phone while they had started carrying out jungle justice on the man, already in coma, before someone who actually saw what happened stopped her from escaping.”
