Governor Ayo Fayose is in a class of his own, you just have to let him be. Even fellow governors couldn’t help but laugh with him over his choice of dressing.
This life ehn…you never know when your time will be up. We are living by His grace.
Her friend who shared the sad news, said the lady, who was pregnant, died in her sleep after waking up to use the toilet…. she slept and never woke up again.
To Mrs. Peace Onyekweli, life has suddenly become a strange journey, where she would have to cater for the children alone without her hard working husband, Mr. Cletus Onyekweli, 49, whose sudden death is still a mystery to his family.
Cletus was said to have been murdered on the premises of Shell Industrial Area in Rumuamasi area of Port Harcourt, where he was a contract employee for about 14 years.
The deceased, who recently earned an award for himself for his dedication to work, was found dead in his office in a pool of his own blood, an incident that suggested to the widow that her husband was murdered.
The incident, which happened on Thursday, April 13, 2017 has left the deceased’s family, including his three children in shock.
Punch reports that Cletus had before leaving for work on the fateful day, promised to teach his 15-year-old daughter Chemistry after work. But Cletus never came back home.
Narrating how the news of her husband’s death came to her, his wife said she became worried when she put a call across to him and his two phones indicated that they were switched off. The widow explained that she kept calling her husband’s colleagues, to ascertain the whereabouts of Cletus, who hailed from Aboh, Ndokwa East area of Delta State.
“I waited till about 8pm for him to come back to no avail. So, I suspected he might have been stuck in traffic. I called him again at 9pm when he was not back. I called his office mobile line, the response indicated it was switched off; I called his own personal two lines, they were switched off.
“I repeated the calls at 11pm and at about 12 midnight. It was the same. When it was 12, I prayed till about 1am. When it was after 1am, I woke the children up and told them that daddy was not back. Then we all held hands together and prayed that wherever he was, God should bring him back home.
“At 2am, I decided to call one of his subordinates and complained to him. Immediately I requested for one of his colleagues’ phone number and I gave him a call. The colleague told me they attended the training together and after a training programme, they held a meeting and he returned to his office. My husband’s colleague is in RA (Shell Residential Area) while my husband is in IA (Shell Industrial Area).
“He said he communicated with my husband with the office intercom at about 4pm and at about 6.30 to 7pm, he still communicated with him through their intercom, which suggested he was still in the office.
“My husband’s friend asked me to hold on and that he would speak with other colleagues to see what they could do to trace my husband’s whereabouts. At 3am, I called him again and he urged me to be patient and that they were already in Shell, but they had not been granted access into the place. I waited till about 6am and called him and he said no access yet,” Mrs. Onyekweli further narrated.
She expressed shock when she was later told that her husband was found dead in his office inside Shell Industrial Area, adding that the Division Police Officer at Elekahia Police Station told her that her husband’s corpse had been taken to a morgue in Shell Petroleum Development Company, Rivers State.
Insisting that justice must be allowed to prevail, Mrs. Onyekweli pointed out that her husband’s death has left a big vacuum, adding that her three children would not be able to cope with life without their father.
She said, “My husband was murdered in cold blood. From all understanding, I know there is nothing we can do to bring my husband back to life. But at the same time, I still want justice to prevail. It is like we are dealing with a masquerade now; we don’t really know who carried out the act. I don’t have the power to do that single-handedly. If government wants justice, let them go ahead; if the Old Boys want justice, let them also go ahead.
“My husband’s death has created a very big vacuum. I have to step in as a father and as a mother now. I am yet to comprehend how I am going to continue on this journey alone because it is now a journey of only one person. So, I just ask for God’s grace to carry on.
“As it stands now, I suspect everybody. I cannot hold concretely to one person that this is the person who murdered my husband, I suspect everybody.”
Late Cletus Onyekweli was before his demise, a member of the 1986 set of Immaculate Conception College, Benin, (Old Boys) and some members of the association are already crying foul over the death of their colleague.
One of the lawyers, who represent Mrs. Onyekweli and Old Boys of Immaculate Conception College, Port Harcourt Branch, Mr. William Arebamen, told our correspondent that they would not allow Shell Producing Development Company to sweep the matter under the carpet.
Arabamen said, “I coordinate a team of lawyers who represent Mrs. Peace Onyekweli, widow of late Engr Cletus Onyekweli, his family and Old Boys of Immaculate Conception College, Port Harcourt branch; of which the late Onyekweli was an active and committed member.
“He was discovered in a pool of blood, right in his office at SPDC industrial area, under circumstances that indicate that he was murdered.
“I and my team have been retained to represent his wife, family and association to unravel the mystery surrounding his death and we are committed to leave no stone unturned until we get justice for late Onyekweli and those he left behind.
“Letters have been written to SPDC and other stakeholders with respect to his unfortunate demise. The response received in the coming days shall decide our next line of action.”
Responding to Onyekweli’s death, SPDC spokesman, Mr. Joseph Obari, said, “A contract staff was found dead in his office at the industrial area of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd in Port Harcourt on April 13.
“We are shocked and saddened at this incident and our thoughts are with the bereaved family. The family of the deceased has been informed, while the incident is being investigated.”
However, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. NnamdiOmoni, told our correspondent in a telephone interview that the police were making progress in an ongoing investigation on the matter.
“I am aware of the incident. Investigation is on and we are making significant progress; we are closing up on the perpetrators. It is not necessary for us to begin to disclose our findings on the pages of newspapers. We are doing our best and in no time, the perpetrators will be rounded up and charged to court,” Omoni added.
A 26-year-old building engineer, Benedict Otanwa, has told operatives of the Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) that he took to crime after President Buhari came to power. According to him, he joined crime after his company lost a contract because of Buhari’s economic policy.
The loss of the contract led to many workers in the company being relieved of their duties. He said that he was part of the workers affected in the company’s downsizing.
The police said: “The suspects Otanwa, Okopi and Ijiga are all natives in of Benue State. They were arrested by operatives of the IRT in Nassarawa for coordinating several robberies, which include the robbery of a popular pharmacy and snatching of a Toyota Sienna car in Yanya.”
He explained that he was already married before the sack and couldn’t provide for his family anymore. He was troubled. He soon became friendly with a man called, IG.
He revealed his situation to IG, who gave him money on different occasions. One day, IG told Otanwa that he was going to introduce him to a business that would be fetching him good money.
Otanwa would later realise that the business was robbery. In the first operation, two members of his church went with them.
Unfortunately I met one guy, IG and told him about my predicament. He gave me some money. After a while, IG asked me to join him in his business. I asked what it was and he said I should meet him at a junction close to my house.”
When Otanwa got to the junction, he met IG and another man called Oteh. Otanwa said that two members of his church, Sunday and Monday, were also there. Otanwa said: “We moved out. IG showed us a pharmacy.
He said we should rob it. On our way, we saw a Toyota Sienna. IG and Oteh, who had guns with them, went and snatched it from the owner. We later sold it. I was given N5,000 after the vehicle was sold. Honestly, it was poverty that pushed me into this.”
Did Segun Adeniyi told those he spoke to that he was going to put their words in a book, word for word? Did they give their express approval? Were there parts that should not have been be included like just a chat and not part of the interview? Some persons are complaining.

Residents of Shendam Close, off Anthony Anyaoku Street, a neighbourhood of Area 11, Abuja, on Tuesday witnessed the discovery of huge cache of money in bags.
The third vehicle, a BMW 640i series unmarked equally had several ‘Ghana must go’ bags at both the back seat and booth.
The EFCC operatives numbering about seven and accompanied by two army personnel, according to eyewitnesses, stormed the area about 4.50p.m.
Independent reporter met the team scurrying through one of the vehicles, counting the money and taking video shots.
It was also observed that the SUV had much of the bags in its booth.
“The daylight drama went undisturbed as shocked residents watched in disbelief till about 6p.m. when the team drove off the vehicles to EFCC headquarters.
A young man in his thirties who did not give out his identity told Independent that one of the three men seen standing with the operatives claimed that the vehicles were brought there by his friends who asked him to look after the vehicles. He’s now at large.
No fewer than 253 Nigerians repatriated from Libya arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Tuesday. The returnees, who arrived aboard an airbus belonging to Libyan Air, touched down at the airport around 6.45pm.
It was learnt that the returnees were assisted back into the country through the intervention of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency were said to have provided them with food and money for transportation back to their different destinations.
NEMA Public Relations Officer, South-West zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, said while 148 of the returnees were females, 105 were males.
He said, “The assisted voluntary returnees arrived in the country around 6.45pm on Tuesday aboard an airbus belonging to Libyan Air. A total of 253 people were received by NEMA officials. Of the number were 140 adult females, four female children, and four female infants. There were 102 male adults, two male children and one male infant.”
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has said that with the current efforts by the Federal Government to revive the country’s economy, the country should be out of recession by the third quarter of this year.
Emefiele also said the CBN would continue with its intervention in the foreign exchange market, adding that efforts by the apex bank so far had been yielding positive results.
He added that the country had started to see a downward trend in the prices of commodities, indicating a reduction in the rate of inflation.
“We are very much optimistic that by the end of the second quarter, or latest the third quarter, we should be out of recession that we are in right now,” he said.
The CBN governor said these after meeting with the leadership of the Senate on Tuesday.
Emefiele, while briefing journalists after the meeting, said discussions were held between the apex bank and the legislature on the current state of the economy.
He said, “Actually, the Senate President invited us to come and brief the Senate leadership in a closed session and to provide some updates on the foreign exchange markets. You would have observed that in the last two months, the central bank has been involved in some form of intensive intervention in the foreign exchange market and this has fortunately resulted in a downward trend in the parallel market price of foreign exchange, from as high as N525 to a dollar to as low as N370.
“Right now, it hovers between N370 and N380. I think it’s an opportunity for me to say that we are going to continue this intervention because the reserves look very good. As I speak to you, our (external) reserves stand at above $31bn and that provides us enough of firepower or ammunition to be able to defend the currency, and we will do so with all intensity to ensure that foreign exchange is procured by everybody…”
Recalled that a special team of officers from the Force Headquarters, Abuja had on April 20 carried out a raid on the Asokoro residence of Senator Goje, a former governor of Gombe State.
While raising the motion, Ahmad said security agents destroyed doors, bags, ceilings, soakaways and took away documents including reports of the 2017 appropriation bill which was scheduled to be laid before both chambers of the National Assembly during the week.
The proposed budget was initially slated to be passed before the end of March 2017 but the Senate later gave a May 5 deadline for the passage.
“The gestapo manner in which the security agents invade private residences in the course of carrying out their duties is causing apprehension in the minds of citizens”
“Unless steps are taken to halt these extra-legal actions, the nation may descend to a near fascist state,” Hon. Ahmad claimed.
He also raised concerns that the budget may not be passed as scheduled.
“Now that the documents are in their (the police) possession, how do we proceed? We have to curb the excesses of these security agents before it gets out of hand,” he said.
Also contributing to the debate, Hon. Herman Hembe (Benue-APC) said it is unfortunate that a senator of the federal republic will have his house broken into by security agents.
Mr. Hembe said he was particularly worried for ordinary citizens if a senator could be so treated.
“We must condemn this act in its entirety” he said.
The House unanimously agreed to set up an ad-hoc committee to invite the Inspector-General of Police to appear before it to explain what warranted the invasion and to tell the House the laws that backed the force to carry out such operations.
The committee is to report back in two weeks for further legislative action.
Following his absence from the Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting for the 3rd week, federal government has said President Muhammadu Buhari from now operate from home.
Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, said that the President needed some rest and has asked that all the files on his table be brought to him at his official residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for treatment.

Nigerians have never shown such level of patience and tolerance towards any of their past leaders for his record and strange policies as that shown to their current leader, Muhammadu Buhari – a former military dictator now self-confessed democrat who said he came to fight corruption.
Buhari, 75, is being plagued with failures across every single sector in the economy, the like as has never been seen before.
Less than a year into office, the economy plummeted into recession, an economy which had till then grown at an average rate of 7% in previous years (2011-2014). The nation’s currency lost 70% of its value, unemployment rose from 6.5 to 26%, commodity prices tripled across many quarters and the state-regulated premium motor spirit prices were hiked by 67% without practically anybody batting an eye.
There have been stern opposition to his policies however and to his very personality as well, notably in the South-East and South-South regions in the country as they are called, where he both received less than 5% of the votes cast at the last Presidential election and where he has always been sternly unpopular for his history of bigotry against the people, perceived incompetence and dictatorial tendencies. But in many other regions across the country the people have rather resolved to suffer patiently, drawing up excuses for him at will, blaming everyone including his hundreds of political appointees, anything and anybody but never the man himself.
But in many other regions across the country the people have rather resolved to suffer patiently, drawing up excuses for him at will, blaming everyone including his hundreds of political appointees, anything and anybody but never the man himself.
Buhari’s party, the APC, promised Nigerians unprecedented swiping changes in government and the eviction of all corrupt individuals.
One possible explanation could be his party’s hope narrative in the 2015 polls where citizens were promised an unprecedented crackdown on corruption and the abolition of all government waste by a man whose financial worth they declared to have been less than N30m ($150,000 then), a historical low for a former top official in the country and most especially a former leader.
In a country plagued by acute corruption problems and with the unremitted crude oil revenue scandal of 2014 still fresh in the people’s minds, many were eager for an abrupt change, the like as never been seen before. He was seen an army general, already experienced in government, with a great strength of will, tough to take on the nation’s cabal of hardened criminals. He promised to appoint only technocrats to head the country’s departments and to see out the lingering Boko Haram insurgency from the warfront. For a nation lacking basic amenities such as power supply in spite of its huge energy resources and with the lingering insurgency crises, the choice seemed easy to many- the general with integrity was the man for the country.
For a nation lacking basic amenities such as power supply in spite of its huge energy resources and with the lingering insurgency crises, the choice seemed easy to many- the general with integrity was the man for the country.
Talk was cheap then but now reality has taken its course. His earliest opponents pointed out to his track record and not to his speech, noting that the last time Nigeria fell into dismal failure, currency woes and commodity shortages was when he had seized power as a military general in 1983 and stating that the facts of that record contradicted the poems of his image brokers.
Many however just wanted “change” as it was then called and so voted the General and sat to wait for the sung promises. But from the onset of his government, the course was as his critics had predefined: Incompetency, bigotry and dictatorial tendencies plaguing the country.
He ignored the newly born genocide in the middle belt of the country perpetuated by the Fulani herdsmen of his kindred against the Christian communities in Benue, Plateau and later on Kaduna. He breached the Central Bank’s 2007 Act of Independence, telling it to suspend forex disbursements to steel importers and other manufacturing sectors in a bid to defend the Naira, a disastrous action which kick-started a spiral of recession.
He took 3 months to appoint his Chief of Staff, 6 months to appoint a cabinet and now 23 months and yet counting to appoint heads of agencies and board members he was so eager to fire upon his assumption into office and rose import duties on the most basic of commodities in a bid to raise government revenue.
And as for the corruption fight, the facts on ground do not show any one at all. Apart from a few officials harassed or imprisoned without court order, the country is yet to witness the first victim of the said campaign at the court stands.
Government waste is on the rise, officials publicly caught in graft acts were swiftly excused, the 2016 Budget year passed without implementation and most worrisome, the Central Bank’s foreign reserves were being shared among unknown Bureau De Change operators at variable rates at the detriment of critical manufacturing, business and banking sectors.
The government continues to praise itself but the people seem to be increasingly tired of the paraded self-righteousness. The President’s recent illness was greeted with cheers by many. Many are just tired of the government. But the remarkable level of patience shown so far has been unprecedented and many a times the general reactions towards acts of constitutional violations was one of calmness or insensitivity.
If the Change narrative of the 2015 election and the songs of man of integrity are to account for this, then Nigerians may have just certified themselves on the world map as a nation easy to fool with propaganda. An adult should be judged on his track record not on his tongue.

For some reasons, President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief security officer is not happy with the man representing Punch Newspaper in the presidential villa, most probably due to his write ups.
Probably due to controversy generated by singer KCee after he was allegedly caught using another man’s money to pose on Instagram as his own, before he was “exposed”, comedian Basketmouth asked a series of thought-provoking questions on Instagram today.
He wondered why people these days are so addicted to putting their ‘everything’ on social media.
Does it breed hate, love or jealousy?
Why exactly do we take our marital issues to social media?
Since when did the world become our shrinks or marriage counselors?
When did our validation start depending on strangers?
Since when did IG become the judge of our lifestyle, personality, behavior and character?
Why do we spend more time showing people everything about our personal lives rather than living the life itself?
Why are we so hungry for followers on our social media platforms?
Does the amount of followers improve our quality of life? Does it add anything to ones talent?”
Some ladies will leave their boyfriend or husband because of the “wealth display” they’re seeing from guys on Instagram, most of whom their legitimate income can’t sustain.
Some guys will leave their fiancee or wife because of ladies of easy virtues showing ‘assets’ on IG, most of whom are looking for men to destroy with their demons.
A 39-year-old man is about to become president. My fellow Nigerians youths, are we seeing this?
Emmanuel Macron, a Liiberal centrist and radical right leader Marine Le Pen are projected to advance to the final round of the 2017 French presidential election, AFP reports.
Macron is projected to win between 23 and 24 percent of the vote, while Ms. Le Pen is expected to finish second with between 21.6 and 23 percent by the end of Sunday’s poll.
In the French electoral system, a candidate must win over 50 percent of the vote in order to be declared president after one round of voting. If this threshold is not reached, the top two candidates face off in a second round held two weeks after the first.
39-year-old Macron, a pro-European Union liberal running on his independent En Marche (“On the Move”) ticket, called the results of the first round historic, noting that it marks the first time since the second World War that neither of the two mainstream parties advanced to the final round.
If he emerges victorious in the final round, Macron would be France’s youngest president.

‘Ikoyigate’ Latest And The Conspiratorial Silence Of Wike, Fayose And FFK
By Nelson Ekujumi
Following EFCC discovery and recovery of about $43m from a private apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, tongues started wagging as to the identity of the owner or owners in view of other discoveries without ownership in Kaduna airport, Legico shopping mall, Balogun market, etc.
But before one could say Jack…, the trio of Governors Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani Kayode jumped into the fray in a well orchestrated manner and chorused that the cash belonged to Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, former Rivers state governor and minister for transportation, even without producing any fact to back up their allegations rationally and legally.
Infact, governor Nyesom Wike in borrowing a leaf from his brother in utterances and conduct, party associate and friend governor Ayo Fayose, was quoted as threatening that the Federal government will not know peace until the recovered Ikoyi funds is repatriated to the coffers of the Rivers state government which he insisted against logic, rationality and facts as the owner of the funds.
Despite the NIA DG coming forward to claim ownership of the money as belonging to his agency as funds approved by immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan for some covert operations, Nigerians were very doubtful because of the indisputable fact that our environment is one in which truth is in short supply privately and publicly, coupled with the fact that the money was recovered from a private residential apartment and not from any of the offices of the NIA which was claiming ownership.
However in the midst of the brouhaha over the Ikoyigate, public interest in the matter increased the more rather than abate because of the repeated abuse of public trust by those saddled with the responsibility and the resolve of the people that it must no longer be business as usual in this era and administration of change.
With the increased public consciousness to get to the root of the Ikoyigate, came the disclosure of the names of the owners and occupiers of the apartments in the building including the one from which the money was recovered, which was listed as being occupied by the DG NIA and his wife.
Consequently, the publications of the names of the occupiers of the apartments in the building exposed the barefaced malicious blackmail and campaign of calumny by the trio of Wike, Fayose and FFK as the arrowheads, acting out a well orchestrated script to malign the name of Mr. Rotimi Amaechi at all cost because of political differences and to distract Nigerians from the substance of Ikoyigate, which is a testimonial of how the administration of former President Jonathan abused public trust and undermined national security which they seem to have knowledge of.
Unfortunately, since the latest action of the Federal government of suspending the SGF and DG NIA by constituting a 3 man investigative committee headed by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to determine the appropriateness of the Ikoyigate funds and report back in 2 weeks, the conspiratorial silence of the trio of Wike, Fayose and FFK has exposed them as hatchet men with intentions which is at variance with public good.
As we await the outcome of the investigative panel that we are hopeful in, one can only enjoin Nigerians to be patient and expect that justice will be served and refuse to be distracted and confused by anti democratic agents on the prowl.
Solar-Percy, a real estate mogul, runs a company, Solar Worldwide Realty Inc. in Staten Island, New York. She gushed about her love for the woman, with whom she probably would have been arrested if the wedding had taken place in Nigeria.
Solar-Percy, who describes herself as a mother, realtor, LGBT activist, speaker, coach and host on her Facebook page, did not reveal the name of her partner.
She wrote on her Facebook wall;
“Today I woke up in a cold sweat. I was drenched with fear, for a moment. I forgot where I was. I ask you all to close your eyes, imagine what would have happened Saturday at our wedding if we were in Nigeria.
“Even though we went to great lengths to make sure we had security, the thought of the police barging in and arresting all our guests, my wife and I, to be carted off to jail, the women raped and beaten, the men brutalised, and my children beaten along with everyone else.
“When I got my bearings, I got on my knees and thanked God for his grace of living in the US. Then I remembered all the people that could not do what we did with grace and class. To all of you (gay) all over Africa, #westandforyou. May all our days be filled with blessings and grace.”
In Nigeria, such a gay marriage would have met with a clampdown from authorities as a result of the country’s Same-S*x Marriage (Prohibition) Law, which prescribes up to 14 years jail.

In a memo by Mrs Adenike T. Fatogun, titled: “Decision of the University’s Management on Students with disciplinary cases”, the management of the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), has expelled 29 students from the institution, following their acts of insubordination.
The school also suspended 9 students, while 3 got letters of warning, making it clear the school’s “Management will not entertain personal appeals from parents and sponsors in regard to these decisions.”
According to Daily Post, some male students assaulted ACU Vice Chancellor, Professor Dapo Folorunsho Asaju, two weeks ago, and in anger, he ordered that the school be shut and ordered immediate probe.
It was gathered that trouble had started when some male students of ‘Ibadan Hostel’ and ‘JA (Joseph Adetiloye) Hostel’ allegedly fought over a female student.
The VC was said to have directed internal security personnel to put the situation under control before it escalated.
A source in the school said; “When security staff got there, the guys rather than stop the commotion continued. Some students then poured water on the security personnel.
“Word got to the VC who decided to personally intervene. On his arrival, the students got violent and said he should leave.
“As the situation got tensed, some yet-to-be-identified poured water and thrash on him. Prof Asaju was so angry that he cursed them and vowed to take action”.
On Friday, April 21, some of those expelled appeared before the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) over the incident. Others had pending cases which were also investigated.
The suspended Director-General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke, on Wednesday betrayed emotion as he made desperate attempts to enter the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly after his suspension was announced.
Oke was said to have made frantic attempts to seek an audience with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, but was turned back.
He made efforts to avoid journalists, so they won’t capture him on camera. In the process, he was driven towards the Service Chiefs’ Gate from where he was turned back.
The big man has since left the Aso Rock premises as he wasn’t allowed to see anyone.

So long as there is life, you should keep hope alive. Stay faithful for your opportunity so you see it when it comes. Also, do not forget to pray, either you have all you want now or not…
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process against Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal, in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
The President has also directed the suspension of the SGF from office pending the outcome of the investigations.
In a related development, the President has ordered a full-scale investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the EFCC in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, which the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has claimed.
The investigation is also to enquire into the circumstances in which the NIA came into possession of the funds, how and by whose or which authority the funds were made available to the NIA, and to establish whether or not there has been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds.
Buhari has also directed the suspension of the Director General of the NIA, Ambassador Ayo Oke, pending the outcome of the investigation.
A three-man Committee comprising the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the National Security Adviser, headed by the Vice President, is to conduct both investigations.
The Committee is to submit its report to the President within 14 days.
The most senior Permanent Secretary in the SGF’s office, and the most senior officer in the NIA, are to act, respectively, during the period of their suspension.

The Nigerian economy is out of recession and growing strong, says United Kingdom-based World Economics. The body, dedicated to producing analysis, insight and data relating to questions of importance in understanding the world economy, said this development was reflected in the growth of its April Sales Managers’ Index, SMI, for Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari will not communicate to the Senate his latest position on the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
The Senate had, on March 15, 2017, requested the President to nominate a replacement for Magu following the rejection of his nomination by the legislature.
But VP Yemi Osinbajo had ruled out the possibility of replacing Magu, saying the President did not find the security report prepared by the DSS, which formed the basis for Magu’s rejection, a strong reason to replace Magu who’s doing a good job.
When asked when the latest government’s position would be sent to the Senate, a source in the Presidency told Punch that Buhari did not need to communicate his latest position to the Senate.
He said, “The Vice-President has made the government’s position on Magu’s matter clear. There is no need for the President to write the Senate again on the matter since he is no longer seeking the lawmakers’ confirmation.
“Have you not seen Magu carrying out his assignments without hindrance? That is to show you that the President does not need to write the senators again.”
Osinbajo had said he aligned himself with the argument of a lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), that Senate confirmation was not needed for the EFCC’s chairman appointment.

The dare-devil robbers vented their anger on him by shooting at his hands and it fell off after they were unable to get any money from her.
“So you don’t have anything and you are showing off. You suffered us all this while we trailed you only to find nothing in your house,” the robbers angrily said while attacking him.
The incident happened at Victory Estate in Ejigbo, Lagos where the victim resides with his family. The victim identified as Cyril (surname withheld) went to a vigil and was returning in the early morning, unknown to him the robbers were trailing him to his house.
As he entered the compound, he was accosted and taken to his flat where they searched everywhere in the rooms and they did not find any useful thing to steal.
According to the victim, he pleaded to them that he was facing financial challenge and had been praying for turn around for the better. In anger, one of the robbers pointed a gun at him and shot at his hand which fell off. They told him that was his punishment for not keeping anything in the house before they left him in pool of blood.
As the victim bled profusely, he was rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where doctors battled to save his life.
Residents who spoke to PM Express, said robbers have taken over Ejigbo and its environs lately, and the police seem not to have any solution on how to protect their lives and properties.
From what HotNiajGossip.Com gathered, it was through the aid of CCTV footage that the notorious man – Justice Ogbenna, aka JJ – who led the robbery at Zenith Bank in Owerri was identified.
He was trailed and nabbed by police operatives on the day he was to bury his late father. He and his gang member are now cooling off in detention, waiting for prosecution.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has filed a N500m suit against Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, and Lere Olayinka, spokesman of Governor Ayo Fayose.
The duo had accused Amaechi of owning the $43m (about N15billion) which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) found in a Lagos residence.
In separate letters to Fani-Kayode and Olayinka, counsel to Amaechi, Mr. Lateef Fagbemi, said the allegations against his client were false.
Fagbemi said Amaechi has never owned a home in Lagos, and that the “misleading information” was capable of tarnishing Amaechi’s reputation.
“The story as uploaded by you is to our knowledge blatantly false, malicious and is aimed at impeaching the credit of our client, a two-time speaker of the Rivers state of house of assembly, a two-time governor of Rivers state and current minister of the federation.
“Our client neither owns the house where the cash was found and your story and claim are unfounded,” read a letter sent to Lere and Fani-Kayode.
A suspected child thief, Chibueze Nwaozuzu, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly stealing a six-year-old girl and selling her for N200,000. The victim, Chinecherem Anoruo, had been declared missing by the parents, who reported the case to the police.
In the course of investigation, it was discovered that Mr. Nwaozuzu allegedly stole the child and sold her to one Madam Comfort Umunnakwe.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, said the command recovered N83,000 from Nwaozuzu, adding that the six-year-old had been reunited with the parents.
He said, “We received a report of a missing six-year-old child, Chinecherem Anoruo.During investigation, Nwaozuzu was arrested for his alleged involvement in the crime.
“The suspect made useful statements to the police. He stated that he stole the child and sold her to one Comfort Umunnakwe for N200,000. Comfort was arrested and the stolen child recovered. The sum of N83,000, being part of the proceeds of the sale of the child, was also recovered from Nwaozuzu.”
The Federal Government said that there were indications that big looters had more money in their possession than all tiers of government in the country.
It however hailed its whistle-blower policy, which has led to the recovery of looted funds in major currencies which might have never been discovered.
“Since we inaugurated the whistle-blower policy, we have received immeasurable support from Nigerians.
“Yes, there is monetary reward for any information that leads to recovery of looted funds, but from what we have seen, most Nigerians, who have come forward with useful leads, are driven by patriotism rather than reward.
“Nigerians, fired by a fervid resolve to help banish corruption from their country, have daily inundated the offices of the appropriate government agencies with valuable information
“We have been told how looters have resorted to burying stolen funds in their backyards, in deep forests and even at burial grounds.
“Thanks to whistle-blowers, it is now clear that a rapacious few have pillaged the nation’s wealth through a vicious orgy of corrupt practices…
“It is now obvious that more funds are in the possession of looters than are available to government at all levels to meets their obligations, including paying workers’ salaries, providing social amenities, upgrading infrastructure and ensuring the security of lives and property.
“As the looters continue to run helter-skelter, many of them are even abandoning their booty at unusual places, including airports.
“We want to assure Nigerians that we will not abandon this policy for whatever reason. Instead, we will continue to rejig it to make it more effective as a tool for fighting corruption.”
The over N13billion recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from an Ikoyi apartment in Lagos was a discreet allocation released to the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) for major but covert security projects.
The total value of the cash at Central Bank of Nigeria official exchange rate is over N13 billion.
What are the secret details? Inside sources revealed that,
The funds were later released in cash directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria as a way of making its spending completely secret.
“The projects are scattered across the country, but there is a major one in Lagos being funded with the cash warehoused in the Ikoyi building,” one source told PT. “The spending on the projects cannot be subjected to the usual expenditure process, and that is why the funds are held in cash. If you like, you can call it illegal projects in the national interest.”
Our sources said only relevant top government officials and of the NIA are aware of the projects.
One official said when the incumbent Director General of the NIA, Ayodele Oke, was alerted that EFCC operatives had swooped on the apartment, being discreetly guarded by covert operatives, he rushed to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Abuja to advise its chairman, Ibrahim Magu, to withdraw his men as the funds belonged to government.
At the time, about 13 police officers and some soldiers, accompanied by photographers and videographers, had broken into the apartment, and were already dismantling the safes in which the funds were concealed, our sources said.
Mr. Magu however declined Mr. Oke’s request and directed his men to proceed with the operation as he had no security information backing the claim.
Presidency sources said Mr Oke met President Buhari in company of Attorney General Abubakar Malami to table the same complaints.
Those who saw the NIA DG before he was called in to see the president said he had two bulky envelopes believed to contain paper and audio-visual records of the security projects.
Officials said President Buhari has since directed Mr. Magu to forward to him detailed report on the operation. The EFCC boss was also directed to immediately deposit the funds with the CBN.
On his part, Mr. Oke was asked to document his complaints and then reapply for the seized funds.
A top presidency source said the President might ask Attorney General Malami to review reports submitted by the two officials, and then forward appropriate recommendations.
When contacted Friday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said, “It’s a security issue, and not strictly a presidency issue.”
He directed further enquiries on the matter to the security agencies involved.
Mr Oke of NIA confirmed to PT that the cash belongs to his agency but declined further comments when asked what the funds were meant for.
“You don’t expect me to tell you that,” he said.
It is the end of the road for a senior laboratory assistant at the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital in the Central Region, Stephen Enyan, after he was caught allegedly selling pregnant women’s blood to ‘sakawa’ boys (cyber fraudsters) for money rituals.
According to reports in Ghana, the suspect is currently in police custody, was said to have been hiding part of the blood samples he takes from pregnant women who visit the hospital for antenatal checks, for the purpose of selling it for cash.
He purportedly sells a little amount of the blood from GH¢5,000 to GH¢10,000.
Report monitored by Adom Fm said the laboratory technician was tricked by police investigators feigning to be interested in buying blood for their (sakawa) activities following complaints lodged by the hospital to the police.
Visitors to the hospital reportedly claimed that their ailments had either been compounded after attending the clinic or in some instances, the pregnant women lose their lives, which hitherto was not the case.
Some of the residents who corroborated the story maintained that most of the women who visited the lab either die during childbirth or lose their babies because their blood had been sold to the ritualists.
This led to the lodging of complaints to the hospital authorities who also informed the Abura Dunkwa police about the concerns.
The Medical Superintendent, Michael Danso, was said to have reported the case to the District Police Commander, Superintendent Robert Adika, who swang into action by deploying his boys to the health facility.
They had suspected the laboratory technician and so one of them reportedly posed as a ‘sakawa’ boy and contacted Stephen Enyan on WhatsApp before going to him to ‘buy’ blood.
Stephen Enyan agreed to supply him with the blood and sent GH¢250 as part payment of GH¢10,000 before he was arrested in the course of the transaction. The money, in five GH¢50 notes, were tendered in court yesterday.
According to information, the accused, even though joined the hospital as a laboratory technician, he was seconded to the mortuary when the health facility got a morgue.
Family members of persons who die at the hospital also started complaining about missing parts of their dead relatives, and that led to Enyan’s recall to the lab before he was arrested last week and put before court yesterday.
The controversy surrounding the ownership of the N13bn ($43.4m, N23m and £27,000) found by the EFCC at Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, took a dramatic turn on Friday as Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the National Intelligence Agency claimed ownership of the money.
The cash was said to have been released in bits during the tenure of a former NIA director-general.
A source said that the cash was approved before the advent of the Treasury Single Account.
He stated that the Director-General of the NIA, Amb. Ayo Oke; the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu; and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Moguno, had met over the issue.
The NIA source explained that when EFCC operatives stormed the Ikoyi property on Wednesday, they were informed that the said apartment was a safe house of the NIA from which discreet operations were carried out.
The EFCC boss, however, rejected all entreaties from the NIA and entered the building, breaking the fireproof safes and taking the money.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak with the media, told Punch that, “The money belongs to the NIA. It is for covert operations and security projects covering a period of years. The DG has met with the President, he has explained everything to him. The President asked him to put everything into writing and he has done so.
“The entire chain of events was a big misunderstanding. That place was an NIA safe house and you have to understand that the NIA carries out discreet investigation in conjunction with many agencies across the world.”
Governor Wike’s angle
Wike, who described the claim that the cash belonged to NIA as balderdash, insisted the immediate past governor of the state and the current Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, kept the money in the apartment.
As such, the Rivers State governor gave the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to return the money to the state government or be ready to face legal action.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Friday night, Wike said the $43m was part of the proceeds from the sale of a gas turbine by the immediate past administration, adding that the gas turbine was initially built by the Peter Odili administration.
The governor further challenged the Federal Government to set up a commission of inquiry to probe the source of the huge money found in the flat, insisting that the funds belonged to Rivers people and should be returned to the owners within seven days.
He said, “All these things they are saying that the $43m belong to the Nigerian Intelligence Agency is balderdash. When did the NIA begin to keep money in houses? As I speak to you now, the Federal Government is so embarrassed.
“I want the President to set up a commission of inquiry. We don’t want to fight anybody; they should set up a commission of inquiry or return our money within seven days. If they don’t, we will take all necessary legal actions and NIA will come and prove where they got the money from.
“The $43m is the proceeds of the sale of the gas turbine sold by the immediate past administration. The gas turbine was built by the (Peter) Odili administration. It (gas turbine) was sold to Sahara Energy.
“The turbine was sold for $319m. But as of May 2015, what was in the account was $204,000. We will avail ourselves and we will be present at the commission of inquiry expected to be set up by the Federal Government. If we are invited, we will come. There is no contradiction in this at all, but I know they (FG) will not agree.”
Wike said he would complete the monorail project if the Federal Government returned the $43m to Rivers State, adding that it would be “projects galore” in the state should the money be returned back to its original owner.
“Part of the money from the sale of the gas turbine was used to fund the All Progressives Congress campaign. We are telling the world that the money belongs to us. If they (FG) give us the money, I will complete the monorail project,” he said.
When contacted, the media aide to Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, Mr. David Iyofor, said he would react to Wike’s claim on Saturday properly on Saturday.
Successful entrepreneurs are a unique breed of individuals. They sacrifice a lot of things to ensure the smooth running of their businesses. In fact, they are very obsessed with being an entrepreneur. For them, they don’t joke with their morning schedule because if they start off the day on the wrong note, they may not be very productive or motivated.
Hence, they ensure that they do not miss their morning routine. Jumia Travel identifies the things successful entrepreneurs do before 7 am.
They are prepared for the day
They sleep early and wake very early to plan their day. This will prevent them from rushing out of the door every morning and also help them deal with stress.
Eat a healthy breakfast
A healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day since it’s going oil their brain and body for the day. So, they do not play with their breakfast. Also, they ensure that they do not eat junk foods and fruits are not far away from them.
Their phone is not the first thing they check
When some persons wake up, the first thing they check is their phone. Entrepreneurs don’t do this. In fact, you won’t find their phones close to them when they sleep because it can interrupt their naps. Hence to avoid morning distractions, they avoid their phones in the mornings. They will check it later.
Set goals and priorities
The best time to plan your day and set goals, as well as priorities, is in the mornings. For each day, entrepreneurs write down these goals and try as much as possible to achieve these set goals.
They exercise and meditate
They regularly exercise and meditate to reduce stress, increase energy, and help them sleep better. In addition, it gives their immune system a boost.
They motivate themselves
Entrepreneurs are humans and sometimes they feel overwhelmed. They also need to be encouraged. They don’t wait for others to motivate them. They motivate themselves. That is why you see them upbeat and animate every day.
This action by Emir Sanusi has generated some ripples. Shahida Sanusi, daughter of Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano, represented him at the inaugural Chibok Girls’ lecture held by the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group on Friday.
Shahida, who delivered Sanusi’s speech at the event in Abuja, said her representing the emir would be the first time a non-title holder or woman would do so in the north.
Earlier, the Emir, in a video message to the group, said he chose his daughter to represent him at the event because of her passion for gender issues.
He said his daughter once slapped a boy for disrespecting her.
He also lampooned those who are opposed to his views, saying they would have to contend with his children who are more progressive and radical.
The Federal Government plans to provide at least 15 million jobs for Nigerians by the year 2020 as captured in the recently launched Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
Former Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu has ‘disowned’ the house where EFCC officers yesterday discovered more than $50 million hidden behind false walls in a swanky apartment tower in the upscale Ikoyi area of Lagos.
But at about 9:00pm Eastern Standard Time in the US, one Akin Oyegoke who identified himself as the “Media and ICT Personal Assistant” to Mr. Mu’azu called SaharaReporters from London to deny that the former PDP chair owns the building.
“Mr Muazu does not own any house in Ikoyi except his house at Walter Carrington street, Victoria Island Lagos,” Oyegoke said.
He also denied that his boss ever lived in the apartment where Saharareporters noted he maintains a Penthouse.
Mr.Oyegoke claimed his boss was unhappy about the story published by SaharaReporters linking the building to Muazu and requested that it should be removed, but when the website asked him to explain why the construction company listed his boss’s name as the client on the property profile, he offered no answer only promising to reach out to Mr. Muazu and get back to us but never did as at the time of publishing this story.
Meanwhile, sources close the ex-PDP chair have confirmed that he is indeed the owner.
Mu’azu was the former governor of Bauchi between 1999 and 2007. A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, he received Bachelor of Science degree in Quantity Surveying and masters’ degree in Construction Management.
Mr. Muaza had previously been declared wanted by the EFCC for engaging in massive corruption. He is believed to be living between theUk and Malaysia aided by a luxurious private jet he purchased after 2015 election in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s money is being discovered in private homes these days is quite disturbing. And it appears most of the Billions are traced to lootings during the 2015 election. More pics…
